Established in 1989 by current Chief Executive Peter Whitehead, and with ‘humble’ beginnings from rented premises in Sheffield, Windsor Foodservice has continually grown faster than the foodservice market to become one of the UK’s leading independent foodservice operators.
Having outgrown facilities at Birdwell near Barnsley, the business now operates out of a purpose-built head office and distribution facility in the Dearne Valley with a second distribution depot at Castle Donington in the East Midlands. Employing over 70 staff, the business serves in excess of 3,000 catering customers with over 2,500 quality products.
In 2013 Windsor Foodservice created Pete’s Patisseries – a top of the range luxury dessert range; and in 2017 Windsor Fresh Meat was formed offering top quality meat products at competitive prices.
At Windsor, we have always believed in re-investing for the future whether in staff training, IT, storage or our distribution fleet and we are continually developing and expanding our range of products, many unique to Windsor, so that we can keep exceeding the requirements of our customers.

Our distribution policy is to offer one of the most flexible and comprehensive delivery service within the industry. We distribute via a fleet of modern multi-temperature controlled trucks which have electric driven refrigeration units which are highly efficient and cause less noise or pollution. All trucks incorporate temperature monitoring equipment which enables temperature records to be provided at the point of delivery.
